No real need to rehash the loss to MSU, it happened and the season is now over...
-A couple of Pitt assistant coaches are candidates for positions with other teams. Coach Knight is rumored to be involved with NJIT. Coach Herrion is expected to be a candidate for James Madison University, Siena, and has been rumored to be on Providence's short list.
It looks like the coaching carousel will continue at the University of Pittsburgh with at least one move, maybe more, this off season.
-Greg Echenique's commitment to Rutgers took the Pitt staff by surprise. Echenique simply liked the campus location and the Rutgers' environment.
-Frank Ben-Eze has Pitt high on his list. The 6'10" center currently attends Bishop O'Connell in Arlington, Virginia.
EDIT----------------------------
James Madison has hired a new coach, it is not Coach Herrion...

Who is the assistant recruiting Ben-Eze? Do we have any tie ins with him that may work in our favor?
Also (again this is gspia22), I hope that Knight recognizes NJIT for what it is: a dead end. The guy would be better served being a top assistant at a major conference school. He really needs to get some experience being an assistant.
If Ben-Eze commits along with Kane this year (if possible). How could that work with scholarships. Wouldnt this affect next years recruiting. Those players being Dodson, Taylor, Scott. Assuming we have a good chance in landing them. Do we?. An also Creek. But ive read nothing on this kid saying wether or not we are high on his list. Is he a good possibility?
- I think Echenique surprised a lot of coaching staffs, probably Rutgers included.
- Ben-Eze and Kane together in all likelihood will not work together, unless someone already coming does not make it.
Finding a scholarship for just one player is not a certainty, though a probability. If Pitt needed to find three, it would a little bit much.
- The only players that would directly affect 09 recruiting with an early absence would be the juniors . . . Young, Fields, Biggs and Diggs. Those guys affect 09 recruiting because they are where the four ships are supposed to come from . . . now, if say Young and/or Diggs leaves and Pitt adds one, then they lose a ship for 09. If they lose both and add two, then they lose two ships for 09.
- Other players can affect 09 too . . . also even next year . . . but they would add scholarship possibilities to 09, or keep them the same. For example, hypothetically, if Austin Wallace leaves the team, his ship would not necessarily add to 09, because it may be used to get Jermaine Dixon here . . . but, it does not take away from 09 in any instance.
- At the last word from Creek, Pitt was high, but it has been a long time since he spoke.
- Finally, I think Knight may get in over his head at NJIT too, if the opportunity arose for him to go there. Knight may be a great coaching prospect, but he needs some real college experience as an assistant.
Pittfan23,
Dodson would be in the 2009-2010 class. He is RS in JUCO, so he'll have 3 years eligibility at Pitt.
As for the asst responsible for Ben-Eze, I'll check it out.
It seems Herrion is the main recruiter, but since it's so late in the game he isn't the only one on him.
Can you please tell me what NJIT is?
I googled NJIT. An it came up as New Jersey Institute of Technology. But that could be wrong have no clue.
New Jersey Institute of Tehnology...they recently became D1 and just finished the season without a single win.
